Assignment Grade Impact Calculator
Find out how a specific assignment score will affect your overall course grade.
Enter your grades and weights above to see the impact.
Formula
New Overall Grade = (Current Grade × Current Weight + Assignment Score × Assignment Weight) ÷ (Current Weight + Assignment Weight)
Where all weights are expressed as percentages of the total course grade (must sum ≤ 100%).
Example: Current grade = 85%, current weight = 70%, assignment score = 92%, assignment weight = 15%:
New Grade = (85 × 0.70 + 92 × 0.15) / (0.70 + 0.15) = (59.5 + 13.8) / 0.85 = 73.3 / 0.85 ≈ 86.24%
Assumptions & References
- All grades are expressed as percentages (0–100).
- Weights represent each component's share of the total course grade and must not exceed 100% in aggregate.
- The calculator uses a weighted average: each grade is multiplied by its weight, summed, then divided by the total weight counted so far.
- Letter grades follow a standard US scale: A ≥ 90, B ≥ 80, C ≥ 70, D ≥ 60, F < 60.
- Extra credit (scores above 100%) is not supported in this version.
